The 72nd Emmy Awards in the Prime Time category (originally: 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards ) took place on September 20, 2020. The nominations were announced on July 28, 2020 by Leslie Jones , Laverne Cox , Josh Gad and Tatiana Maslany . Programs that were broadcast in the period from June 1, 2019 to May 31, 2020 were taken into account.
