Jim Parsons
James Joseph "Jim" Parsons (born March 24, 1973 in Houston , Texas ) is an American actor . He was recognized by his role as Dr. Dr. Sheldon Lee Cooper is internationally known in the US sitcom The Big Bang Theory , for which he was awarded four Emmys and a Golden Globe .
life and work
Parsons grew up in Houston, where he began acting in first grade. After finishing school, he took up acting at the University of Houston , which he graduated from the University of San Diego . Parsons worked in theater productions at both universities. He then went to New York City to continue his career there.
He got his first television role in 2003 in the series Ed - The Bowling Lawyer ; it followed minor appearances in television and movies. In the television series For All Cases Amy , he appeared in 2004 and 2005 in seven episodes. From 2007 to 2019 he played the theoretical physicist Dr. Dr. Sheldon Lee Cooper in the CBS- produced sitcom The Big Bang Theory . With his series partner Johnny Galecki he had a joint guest appearance in the animated series Family Guy in 2009 , each in their roles from The Big Bang Theory .
For his role as Dr. Sheldon Cooper was Parsons nominated for an Emmy for Best Actor in a Comedy Series from 2009 to 2014 ; he won the award four times. In 2011 he received the Golden Globe Award . In March 2015, he was honored with a television star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame . It is the 2545th star and is located in front of the Hudson Apartments at 6533 Hollywood Boulevard . From May to August 2012, Parsons played the role of Elwood P. Dowd in My Friend Harvey at a Broadway theater .
Parsons has been in a relationship with art director Todd Spiewak (born January 19, 1977 ) since 2002 and married him in New York in May 2017. The couple lives there and in Los Angeles for work . Parsons' German voice actor has been Gerrit Schmidt-Foss since The Big Bang Theory .
