They want to live a humble life together. The family idyll is tarnished when Ted is arrested one day in connection with a kidnapping. Then Ted is charged with a number of gruesome murders. Reviews

Carlos Aguilar of TheWrap explains that the film stubbornly refrains from explicit physical violence and instead turns to the manipulation techniques of Ted Bundy . It is not a review of the methods and perversions of the killer, but rather an examination of our prejudices and infinite fascination for those of us who find a strange fulfillment in brutality. Zac Efron is an attractive, white man who works in the Disney machinery, the perfect choice to embody the evil that hides under Bundy's facade. Bundy's instinct for self-preservation is particularly evident in the court scenes, in which he confidently appears as his own lawyer and proves astute enough to beguile the viewer and make one question the allegations against him. His good looks as a deceptive camouflage to instill trust enabled Bundy to defy the archetypal image of nefarious predators and evade justice for as long as he did, according to Aguilar. This reminds the film critic of Luis Ortega's Argentinian drama El Angel , in which Carlos Robledo Puch, a teenage serial killer with an angel face, is repeatedly let off the hook. All in all, and despite some flaws in Michael Werwie's script, Extremely Wicked is a thought-provoking piece of cinema that shunts avoid in favor of a more philosophical portrayal of a diabolical murderer.
