Nicolas Chartier
Nicolas Chartier (* 1974 in France ) is a French film producer . In 2010 he won the Oscar for Best Picture for The Hurt Locker .
Life
Chartier initially worked for the Cannes International Film Festival . The Frenchman then worked as a film distribution salesman at Myriad Pictures , where he became Vice President in 1999. As president of the self-founded Vortex Pictures , he then sold films such as My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002). In 2005, Chartier founded the production company Voltage Pictures in Los Angeles with Dean Devlin . His behavior in the run-up to the Academy Awards caused a stir . He is said to have sent members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences e-mails in which he asked the electorate to vote for The Hurt Locker and not for a $ 500 million film - as he called it vote. What was meant was Avatar - departure for Pandora , who also went into the Oscar race as a favorite. As a consequence of the very aggressive vote-catching, Chartier was dismissed from the Academy Awards and his appearance was prohibited. Chartier now lives in LA
