Jeffrey Donovan (born May 11, 1968 in Amesbury , Massachusetts ) is an American actor , best known for his starring role as Michael Westen in the television series Burn Notice .

Life and accomplishments

Jeffrey Donovan studied acting at New York University . He made his debut in one of the bigger roles in the independent crime drama Throwing Down from 1995. He played major roles in the independent drama One Grave to Much, produced two years later, and in the 2000 horror film Blair Witch 2 .

Donovan won a Method Fest award for his supporting role in the drama Sam & Joe (2003) . In the drama Come Early Morning , he played the role of Cal Percell , with whom Lucy Fowler ( Ashley Judd ) falls in love. In the drama Believe in Me (2006) he played one of the leading roles alongside Samantha Mathis and Bruce Dern . In the drama The Stranger Son (2008) by Clint Eastwood , he played one of the leading roles as police captain JJ Jones alongside Angelina Jolie .

From 2007 to the end of the series in 2013, Donovan starred in the television series Burn Notice as former secret agent Michael Westen . After directing the episode Made Man (4x03) in 2010, Donovan also directed the related TV movie Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Ax in 2011 . In this TV movie he also had a cameo as his series character Michael Westen . In 2012 and 2013, Donovan again directed an episode of the series.

In 2015 he was seen in the second season of the series Fargo in a supporting role as Dodd Gerhardt .

The actor lives in Los Angeles . Donovan has been in a relationship with model Michelle Woods , who is 23 years his junior, since 2010 . The two got engaged in June 2012, the wedding took place a short time later. In December 2012, the two parents had a daughter.
