Ashley Judd
Ashley Judd (* 19 April 1968 as Ashley Tyler Ciminella in Granada Hills , Los Angeles ) is an American actress . She is the daughter of Naomi Judd , who together with her other daughter Wynonna made a career as a country musician under the name The Judds .
Life
When Judd left the University of Kentucky in 1990 (she didn't graduate in French until 2007), she moved to Hollywood . There she had a short appearance and a major supporting role in two episodes of the series Starship Enterprise - The Next Century and was seen several times in the series A bouquet of daughters . After 1994 Ruby in Paradise the Independent Spirit Award won in the category "Best Actress", studded Oliver Stone them for Natural Born Killers , but Judd cut for the final film out again. Through supporting roles in Smoke and Heat , she got the role of "Norma Jean" in the TV movie Norma Jean & Marilyn . The film in which Mira Sorvino played “Marilyn” helped both of them achieve their breakthrough. Now Judd could appear in films such as the John Grisham film adaptation The Jury .
Her success brought her leading roles in action films and thrillers like ... because they are there to be kissed , double murder , high crimes - In the web of lies and twisted - the first suspicion . The attempt to establish oneself with the men's circus in the romantic subject, however, should fail.
In addition, Judd was in front of the camera in literary adaptations such as Simon Birch , Where Your Heart Beats and The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisters .
Frida and De-Lovely - The Cole Porter Story were biopics about Frida Kahlo and Cole Porter .
Judd was married to Scottish racing driver Dario Franchitti for eleven years, and they divorced in 2013.
In parallel to her acting career, she completed a degree in administration and began a doctoral program in Berkeley in 2016.
In December 2017, " Lord of the Rings " director Peter Jackson said in an interview with the online portal "Stuff" that he played Judd and Mira Sorvino as actresses for his " Hobbit " and "Lord of the Rings" in the 1990s. - I considered projects, but ignored them because of warnings from the Weinstein brothers about working with them. When the allegations against Harvey Weinstein for sexual exploitation of women became known in October 2017 ( Weinstein scandal ), he considered his warnings in retrospect to be part of a “dirt campaign in full swing” against actresses. Judd and Sorvino thanked Jackson for disclosing it. Weinstein's spokesman denied the allegations. Judd filed a claim for damages against Weinstein in 2018.
She is an ambassador for “YouthAIDS”, an education and prevention program that deals with the treatment and prevention of HIV / AIDS.
