Mira Sorvino
Mira Katherine Sorvino (born September 28, 1967 in Tenafly , New Jersey ) is an American actress and Oscar winner . Her father is the actor Paul Sorvino .
Life
Mira Sorvino studied Sinology (Far Eastern language and literature) as a major at Harvard University and graduated in 1989 with “ magna cum laude ” with her thesis on racial conflicts in China . She speaks Chinese and French . After graduating from college, Sorvino lived in New York for three years . She worked in various small jobs. When the film Amongst Friends (1993) was being prepared, she was hired as third assistant director and then promoted to casting director and production assistant. Eventually she was offered the lead role.
The breakthrough came Sorvino 1995 with the presentation of the prostitute Linda Ash in the Woody Allen -Spielfilm Mighty Aphrodite , for it with a Oscar was awarded.
Sorvino married actor Christopher Backus in 2004. The couple have four children together.
