Critics' Choice Movie Award

The Critics' Choice Movie Awards ( Acronym : CCMA , formerly known as Broadcast Film Critics Association Award ) is an annually in the United States by the Broadcast Film Critics Association award Film Award . It honors the best films of the past film year from the critics' point of view. After a nomination phase and subsequent announcement of the nominations in December, the award ceremony took place in January with one exception.

Initially known as the Broadcast Film Critics Association Awards , they were later renamed the Critics' Choice Awards . As of 2010, the award was called Critics 'Choice Movie Awards in order to differentiate itself from the Critics' Choice Television Awards awarded by the Broadcast Television Journalists Association from 2011 . When it was awarded in January 2016 , the Film Prize was merged with the TV Prize under the name Critics' Choice Awards .

Initially held in the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium from 2005 to 2008 , the ceremony moved to the historic Hollywood Palladium Theater from 2009 to 2011 . The award ceremony has been held in the Barker Hangar at Santa Monica Airport in Santa Monica , California, since 2012 ; only in 2015 it took place again in the Hollywood Palladium Theater. Initially broadcast by the cable broadcaster VH1 , the live broadcast on US television changed briefly to the broadcaster The CW with the 2014 award ceremony . The three subsequent awards ran on cable channel A&E , and since the celebration in 2018 she can be seen again on The CW.

The 25th award ceremony took place on January 12, 2020 .
