Rüdiger Rehm (born November 22, 1978 in Heilbronn ) is a former German soccer player and current coach .

Career

Rehm played in his youth at VfR Heilbronn , with whom he won the 1996 DFB Junior Club Cup. A season later he was used four times in the men's team (Association League). He began his professional career in 1997 at SV Waldhof Mannheim and stayed there until 2001. He then played for one year each for the second division 1. FC Saarbrücken and SSV Reutlingen 05 , with whom he was relegated to the regional league, and for two years each for FC Erzgebirge Aue and Kickers Offenbach . In the first half of the 2007/08 season he was under contract with FSV Oggersheim in the Regionalliga Süd . From February 1, 2008 he played for TSV Crailsheim in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg.

Rehm has been assistant coach at the regional division SG Sonnenhof Großaspach since the 2008/09 season . There he was also active as a player. In autumn 2008, he jumped in three games for head coach Thomas Letsch, who intervened in a scuffle after a game and tore his spleen in the process, as a (player) coach. For the 2011/12 season, the club gave Rehm more responsibility in the coaching staff, and he became the first assistant coach and stand-by player. On June 28, 2012 he took over the post of head coach at SG Sonnenhof Großaspach.

Rehm played 188 second division games over the course of his career. He was sent off nine times in the second division and together with Willi Landgraf holds the record of sending off.

In October 2014, Rehm stopped his work during his ongoing coaching course. It was planned that he would return as a coach for the 2015/16 season; as long as Uwe Rapolder should take over the trainer position in Großaspach. At the end of February, however, Rapolder made his post available early and Rehm became head coach again on February 25, now with a successful football teacher license.

On June 15, 2016, Arminia Bielefeld signed Rehm as head coach for the 2016/17 season. He signed a contract that ran until summer 2018. On October 22, 2016, Rehm and his assistant coach Mike Krannich were sacked after ten games without a win.

On February 13, 2017, Rehm signed a contract as head coach with third division club SV Wehen Wiesbaden until 2019. He led the club from a relegation rank to 7th place in the final table and won the Hessen Cup , which made it possible to qualify for the DFB Cup. In the 2017/18 season he played for a long time with the SVWW for promotion and finally ended the season in 4th place. In November 2018, his contract was extended prematurely until 2021. In the 2018/19 season , Rehm and his team took 3rd place. In the relegation they prevailed against FC Ingolstadt and were promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga . In addition, the SVWW won the Hessen Cup again .

After the possibility of warning coaches and other team officials with yellow cards was introduced for the 2019/20 season , Rehm was the first coach in German professional football to receive a yellow card .
