A year later he moved up to the reserve team of the traditional club in the Regionalliga Nord .

After one season, Kempe moved to the reserve team at VfL Wolfsburg . After he did not want to extend his contract with the club, he was no longer used there and decided to move to 1. In June 2009, Kempe switched to the Swiss Challenge League for FC Vaduz , who signed several new players after relegating from the Axpo Super League .

In September 2010 Kempe moved to the German third division club VfR Aalen . For KSC, he scored his first league goal as a professional in a 3-2 home win against FC Ingolstadt on matchday 14 of the 2011/12 season. With Karlsruhe, Kempe was relegated to the 3rd division in the same season, but immediately managed to get promoted again. His goal for the intermittent 2-1 in the 3-2 home win against Arminia Bielefeld on January 29, 2017, the 18th matchday of the 2016/17 season, was chosen as Goal of the Month for January 2017. Nevertheless, Kempe rose again with the KSC at the end of the season in the 3rd division.
