The DFB U-19 Juniors are a youth national team (up to the age of 19) of the DFB .
history
The U-19s took part in the U-19 European Championship 2008 in the Czech Republic from July 14th to 27th and became European champions after beating Italy 3-1 in the final. With the first two victories she had already qualified for the U-20 soccer world championship in Egypt.
In qualifying for the U-19 European Championship in 2009 , the German team only finished 2nd in Group 7 in the second qualifying round, behind Spain, and thus could not qualify for the final round. The German team was also unable to take part in the 2010 U-19 European Championship . In qualifying, the team lost to Slovakia and the Netherlands.
In the first qualifying round for the 2011 U-19 European Championship , the team faced Andorra, Northern Ireland and Switzerland. The games took place in Germany from October 8 to October 13, 2010. With a clear win against Andorra and a 2-1 win over Northern Ireland, a 2-2 win against Switzerland in the last group game was enough to win the group. This enabled the team to qualify for the elite round; this was played in spring 2011. The winners of each of the seven groups then qualified for the U-19 European Championship 2011 in Romania. The juniors missed the qualification due to a 1-0 defeat in their last game against Turkey.
In the first qualifying round for the U-19 European Championship 2012 , the German team played in group 7. The games were played in Northern Ireland against the national team there as well as against Belarus and Montenegro. After clear victories against Northern Ireland (5: 1) and Montenegro (2: 0), a deficit of 0: 3 at halftime was made up to 3: 3 against Belarus. This was enough for group victory. In the elite round at the end of May 2012, the German team played in Group 3 in Serbia. A 2: 2 against the hosts, a 1: 1 against Romania and a 3: 0 against Hungary were only enough for second place. Serbia qualified for the finals.
At the U-19 European Football Championship in Hungary in 2014 , the German selection became European champions for the third time (1981 as U 18 ). At the same time, Davie Selke was the top scorer with six goals.
The team finished fifth in the 2016 European Under-19 Football Championship in their own country. A year later at the European Championship in Georgia they were eliminated again in the preliminary round, in 2018 and 2019 the team already failed in the qualification.
