The final round of the 27th U-19 European Championship took place in Romania from July 20 to August 1, 2011 .

qualification

The first qualifying round began on September 28, 2010 and ended on October 30, 2010. The games of the elite round took place between April 28, 2011 and June 5, 2011.

In the first qualifying round, Germany and Switzerland , who both played in Group 13 with Northern Ireland and Andorra, prevailed and reached the elite round. Austria only reached third place in Group 12 behind France and Montenegro and was eliminated.

The Swiss team was eliminated on the second day of the elite round. They lost their games against Spain (1: 2) and England (2: 3). In the game against Montenegro they secured 3rd place with a 3-2 win. Germany also retired after two wins in the elite round against Hungary (3: 0) and Macedonia (5: 0), as well as a defeat against Turkey (0: 1), and ultimately took second place. Thus, the tournament in Romania took place without a German-speaking team.
