The final round of the 25th U19 European Football Championship took place from July 21st to August 2nd, 2009. The host was Ukraine for the first time . The opening game was played by England and Switzerland , which parted 1: 1.

52 U19 national teams took part in the qualification, which was played between October 2, 2008 and June 10, 2009. Host Ukraine was the only team to automatically qualify for the finals. So there were seven more places available. Ultimately, the following teams took part in the tournament:

The final of the U19 European Championship 2009 was played between England and the host Ukraine on August 2nd. Ukraine took a 1-0 lead after just five minutes. After changing sides, she then increased to 2-0 and won the U19 European championship for the first time.
