Henri George Lansbury (born October 12, 1990 in London ) is an English football player who has been under contract with the English club Aston Villa since January 2017 .

Career

Arsenal FC

Henri Lansbury made his professional debut at Arsenal on October 31, 2007 in the League Cup against Sheffield United . In order to collect match practice, he moved to the third division Scunthorpe United on January 31, 2009 and played 16 league games for the later promoted team until May 2009.

He spent the following season at Watford FC in the Football League Championship 2009/10 . Lansbury scored 5 goals as a regular player in 37 league games and ended the season with his team in the lower midfield of the table. He had already signed a new contract with Arsenal on December 31, 2009. On May 9, 2010, Lansbury made his Premier League debut for Arsenal . His first competitive goal for the Gunners was on September 21, 2010 in the third round of the League Cup against city rivals Tottenham Hotspur .

On November 27, 2010 he moved on loan to second division Norwich City and played 23 games in the Football League Championship 2010/11 by the end of the season . Norwich unexpectedly reached promotion to the Premier League as second behind the Queens Park Rangers .

At the beginning of the 2011/12 Premier League , Lansbury played two league games for Arsenal before joining West Ham United on loan on August 31, 2011 .

Nottingham Forest

On August 28, 2012, Lansbury signed a four-year contract with Nottingham Forest .

Aston Villa

During the winter transfer phase of the EFL Championship 2016/17 , he was sold by Nottingham Forest to league rivals Aston Villa . There he had to struggle with injuries from the start and when he was promoted to the Premier League with the “Villans” in the 2018/19 season, he only contributed to this success with three league appearances.

National team

Henri Lansbury went through several years of the English junior national teams. From July 21 to August 2, 2009 he took part in the U-19 European Football Championship 2009 in Ukraine and reached the final with his team. There the team around Kyle Walker , Dan Gosling , Danny Welbeck and Lansbury lost to the hosts with 0-2. In November 2009 he played for the first time in the England U-21 national team, which was coached by Stuart Pearce .
