In the Football League Championship 2013/14 , the left-back played sixteen league games for the second division team coached by Mick McCarthy . After the transfer of Aaron Cresswell to the first division side West Ham United , Mings established himself as a regular on the left defensive position in 2014/15 and was also voted Player of the Month in the English second division in September 2014 . On September 20, 2014, the club gave the 21-year-old a new three-year contract.
