Daniel Noel "Danny" Drinkwater (born March 5, 1990 in Manchester , England ) is an English football player who is under contract with Chelsea .
Career
society
Drinkwater graduated from Manchester United Youth Academy . In 2009 he signed a professional contract with the club coached by Alex Ferguson . Since his chances of playing in the top-class team were very slim, he moved to Huddersfield Town on loan in 2009 in the third-rate Football League One and quickly became a regular in the central midfield. His team finished sixth at the end of the season, but failed in the first play-off round at the later promoted Millwall FC .
At the beginning of the season in the second-rate Football League Championship 2010/11 , he moved to Cardiff City on loan . Cardiff City only narrowly missed promotion to the Premier League in the 2009/10 season . Since Drinkwater was not used as hoped, Manchester United brought him back early and loaned him on January 28, 2011 to the second division Watford FC . In August 2011 he was loaned to Barnsley FC until January 2, 2012 .
In January 2012, Drinkwater moved to Leicester City . He signed a contract valid until June 30, 2015. After five and a half years and a championship , Drinkwater moved to Chelsea in August 2017 . His contract runs until June 30, 2022.
Shortly before the start of the 2019/20 season, Drinkwater moved to Burnley FC on loan until January 6, 2020 . Then he moved on again on loan, now to the first division competitor Aston Villa .
National team
On March 17, 2016, Drinkwater was nominated for the first time for the English national team by England coach Roy Hodgson for test matches against Germany and the Netherlands . On March 29, 2016, he played his first full international game in a 2-1 draw against the Netherlands in London when he came on for Eric Dier six minutes before the end of the game .
