The Lavanttaler Schützenjäger were a group of folk music . It was founded as a quintet in autumn 1987. In the same year the sound carrier "With swing into the weekend" was produced.

The first line-up of the group was:

  • Edmund Lubi (guitar)
  • Kurt Jöbstl (saxophone, clarinet)
  • Jörg Schifferl (accordion, keyboard)
  • Bernhard Gaber (trumpet, drums)
  • Anton Kurey (bass and electric bass).

With this line-up, performances took place at home and abroad until 1991. A phonogram was released with the title Nur Amore . In 1991 Kurey left the group to work as a professional musician. Gerhard Petschnig (baritone and electric bass) was accepted into the group for him.

In 1994 the CD “ Schön was Kinderzeit” was produced.

Since Jörg Schifferl switched from keyboard instruments to trumpet for health reasons, Manfred Gräßl (accordion, drums) joined the band in the spring of 1995. This turned the quintet into a sextet and as such, the last sound carrier was produced in autumn 1995 with the title Music, Music, Music . In May 1995 the troupe was invited to the Musikantenstadl in Zurich. In 1997 the group disbanded.
