society

Gilmour began playing football in the youth of the Glasgow Rangers . At the age of 15, he made his debut in the U20 team in December 2016 and a month later Mark Warburton , the coach of the first team, let him train for the first time. Under Warburton's successor Graeme Murty , he was already on the bench in two cup games , but without being taken into account by this.

In May 2017, Gilmour's move to England's top club Chelsea was confirmed. In July 2017 he finally signed a contract and joined the Blues U18 team . There he performed well in the 2017/18 season, scoring six goals and preparing three goals in 16 league games. On April 30, 2018, he scored a goal in a 4-0 away win in the final second leg of the FA Youth Cup against Arsenal and won the title with the U18 after winning the first leg 3-1.

In July 2018 he signed his first professional contract and was promoted to the U23 team. There, too, he made his breakthrough into the starting line-up in his first 2018/19 season and played in 19 league games in which he scored five times and prepared four more goals. In the 2018/19 UEFA Youth League , he made it with the U19 team to the final of the tournament in which they failed at FC Porto .

He then made his Premier League debut on August 31, 2019 (4th matchday) in a 2-2 draw against Sheffield United .
