Hakim Ziyech ( Arabic حكيم زياش, DMG Ḥakīm Ziyāš ; Born March 19, 1993 in Dronten , Netherlands ) is a Moroccan - Dutch soccer player . The offensive player has been under contract with Chelsea since 2020 and is a Moroccan international.

Ziyech, the son of Moroccan parents, grew up in the Netherlands and started playing football at ASV Dronten . In 2004 he moved to the youth academy of SC Heerenveen and made his debut on August 2, 2012 in a 4-0 win in the first leg in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League against Rapid Bucharest for the professional team. On August 12, 2012, Ziyech made his professional debut in a 2-0 draw on the first day of the Eredivisie 2012/13 against NEC Nijmegen . He was used for the professional team in only two games in the third qualifying round for the Europa League and in the Eredivisie, while otherwise he played for the second team in the "Beloften Eredivisie". At the end of the season, the professionals missed the re-qualification for the Europa League qualification . On August 10, 2013, Ziyech scored his first goal in the Eredivisie with the goal to make it 1-0 in the 2-0 away win on the second day of the Eredivisie 2013/14 against NAC Breda . He conquered a regular place and scored nine goals in 31 games in the Dutch first class. However, the qualification for the international competition was again missed. In August 2014, he ran twice for SC Heerenveen and then left the club.

Ziyech then moved to FC Twente Enschede and scored eleven goals in 31 games in his first season for the Tukkers ; also due to a deduction of nine points, FC Twente Enschede finished tenth and missed qualification for the international competition. In the following season, the club took 13th place in the table not far from the German border . The Dutch Football Association ordered a deduction of three points and a forced relegation due to financial mismanagement, but the Appeals Commission overturned the sentence. In August 2016, Ziyech played four more times for FC Twente and finally moved to Ajax Amsterdam .

He fought for a regular place with the Dutch record champions and made 13 appearances during the 2016/17 Europa League season and scored two goals. In this competition the final was reached, in which one was defeated Manchester United . In the Dutch league they were runner-up behind arch-rivals Feyenoord Rotterdam . In the following season, Ziyech failed with the Amsterdam team both in qualifying for the Champions League and in the qualifying for the Europa League, while they were runner- up in the league behind PSV Eindhoven . Following the season, the offensive player was only the third Moroccan to receive the Dutch Footballer of the Year award . In the 2018/19 season , the Moroccan reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League with Ajax Amsterdam and also won the double from the Dutch championship and the KNVB-Beker; later the national Supercup followed . Ziyech contributed 21 goals and 24 assists in 49 competitive games to these successes.

For the 2020/21 season, the winger moved to the Premier League for Chelsea , where he signed a contract that was valid until June 2026. Ajax claims to receive 40 million euros, but the amount can increase to 44 million.

National team

Ziyech played for various Dutch youth national teams. In 2015 he was nominated for Morocco for the first time and made his debut in October 2015 in a friendly against Ivory Coast . He was in Morocco's squad for the 2018 World Cup . After a 2-2 draw against Spain and two 0-1 defeats against Portugal and Iran , Morocco was the last in Group B to be eliminated from the tournament. Ziyech was used in all three games.
