Dronten ( ) is a municipality on the Veluwemeer and Ketelmeer in the east of the Dutch province of Flevoland . About 20 km west of Dronten is the provincial capital Lelystad , about 15 km east is the city of Kampen and about 14 km southeast is the city of Elburg .
The community was rebuilt in 1972 and had 40,840 inhabitants on January 31, 2019, according to the CBS . It has an area of 424 km², of which almost 334 km² is land that is mainly used for agriculture. In addition to the town of Dronten itself, the municipality of Dronten also includes the two villages of Biddinghuizen and Swifterbant .
Due to its location on the Veluwemeer, Dronten is a popular destination for tourism , which is why there are many camping and leisure opportunities here . This also includes the amusement park Walibi Holland in Biddinghuizen.
A very striking building in the city is the De Meerpaal culture and exhibition hall .

Mayor and alderman
The coalition will be formed from 2018 to 2022 from ChristenUnie , Leefbaar Dronten and VVD . The VVD provides two councilors to the college , while the other coalition parties each have one councilor. The new councilors were appointed at a council meeting on May 31, 2018. Description: In the coat of arms, divided by blue and gold with a wavy cut, a silver lily at the top and three red entwined rings at the bottom . The larger middle ring is covered by a short black post ( bollard ) with a silver hood. A golden crown rests on the coat of arms held by two soaring black stallions .
