Biddinghuizen is a village in eastern Flevoland , part of the Dutch province of Flevoland . It belongs to the municipality of Dronten and is located about 16 km southeast of the provincial capital Lelystad . The so-called district has 6,345 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019). The settlement of the place after the drainage of the polder began on October 10, 1963.
The amusement park Walibi Holland is located about 4 km southeast of the village . Biddinghuizen is also popular for water sports.
Events
From 1982 to 1994 the Flevo Festival took place on a site next to Walibi Holland . And in 1995 the 18th World Scout Jamboree was held here with 28,960 participants from 166 states and territories.
The Lowlands music festival has been held on this site in August since 2000 . With 90,000 visitors, over 200 bands on over 10 stages, it is one of the largest and most famous festivals in the Netherlands. Since 2011 the hard style festival " Defqon.1 " by Q-Dance has also been held there in June .
