Oluwafikayomi Oluwadamilola Tomori , mainly known as Fikayo Tomori , (born December 19, 1997 in Calgary , Alberta ) is an English - Canadian soccer player . The central defender is under contract with Chelsea and has played for various English junior national teams so far.

Career

Tomori has been playing for Chelsea since he was eight . He made his debut for its U-18 team in August 2013 and was used six times by the end of the year. After performing well at the beginning of the 2014/15 season, he was promoted to the U-21s at the end of 2014. Tomori developed into a key figure in the team and won both the FA Youth Cup 2014/15 and the UEFA Youth League 2014/15 with her at the end of the season .

In the 2015/16 season Tomori scored important goals, including in the final of the FA Youth Cup 2015/16, which was won 3-1 against Manchester City , and the UEFA Youth League 2015/16 , where they played against Paris Saint-Germain triumphed., which he both won again with Chelsea's U-21s. On the transfer deadline day 2017, August 31, the second division Hull City secured the services of Tomori in a one-year loan deal. He made his debut in the Tigers' jersey on September 13, 2017 (2nd matchday) in the 1: 2 away defeat against Fulham . Since the beginning of November at the latest, he was then considered a regular player in full defense in the Premier League relegated from the previous season. He held this position until February 2018, when coach Nigel Adkins took him off the team. In this 2017/18 season he made 25 league appearances for Hull City.

As an already established part of the Chelsea Loan Army, Fikayo Tomori switched to the second division Derby County on August 6, 2018 , where he met the blues legend Frank Lampard , who had taken over the club as head coach for the 2018/19 season . On August 11, 2018, in the 4-1 defeat at home to Pride Park Stadium against Leeds United , he was already on the starting line-up. Tomori was in Canada , the son of Nigerian born parents. The family moved to England when he was a child and he was therefore eligible to play for all three nations. In 2016 he made three appearances for the Canadian U-20 national team and led the selection into the field as captain in his last appearance against England .

After his assignments for Canada, he moved to the English Football Association in May 2016 . On May 16, he was nominated for the first time for the U19 and made his debut on June 4, 2016 in the 2-0 defeat against Mexico . He and England took part in the 2016 U-19 European Championship in Germany in July , where he played three games.

Since September 2016 he played for the U20 and took part in the U-20 World Cup 2017 in South Korea . There he was in all three group matches and scored an own goal in the 1-1 draw with Guinea . With England he advanced into the final, which they could win 1-0 against Venezuela .

On September 5, 2017, he made his debut in a 3-0 home win against Latvia for the English U-21 team . On May 27, 2019, Fikayo Tomori was nominated for the U21 squad who represented the country at the 2019 European Under 21 Championship in Italy and San Marino . There he was used in all three group games in which England had already failed.
