Ruben Ira Loftus-Cheek (born January 23, 1996 in Lewisham , London ) is an English football player who is under contract with Chelsea . He is primarily used in midfield .
Club career
Ruben Loftus-Cheek was born in London and joined the youth division of Chelsea in 2004 . He went through various junior teams of the London club and won the U-21 Premier League with the U-21 team in the 2013/14 season. He was also used in the U-19 team, with which he won the UEFA Youth League in the 2014/15 season , where Shakhtar Donetsk was defeated in the final . He made his debut for the senior team on December 10, 2014 in the Champions League group game against Sporting Lisbon . He was nominated for the first time for the Premier League squad of Chelsea on January 31, 2015, when he came on as a substitute on matchday 23 shortly before the end in a 1-1 draw against Manchester City . At the end of the 2014/15 season he was able to celebrate winning the English championship with Chelsea. Loftus-Cheek was able to score his first competitive goal on January 10, 2016 against Scunthorpe United in the third round of the FA Cup , when he scored 2-0 after being substituted on.
On November 10, 2017, he made his debut in a friendly against Germany in the English senior team . In May 2018, he was named to the English squad for the 2018 World Cup by Gareth Southgate . He was used 4 times and took 4th place with the team.
