César Azpilicueta Tanco (born August 28, 1989 in Pamplona ) is a Spanish football player who plays for Chelsea in the Premier League .
Player career
César Azpilicueta, who was born in Pamplona , played for CA Osasuna as a youth before playing for Osasuna's second team in Segunda División B as a 16-year-old for the 2006/07 season .
In the summer of 2007, when he was only 18, he was promoted to Osasuna's first team. However, he made his first division debut in the preseason in the 2-0 away defeat at Real Madrid on April 8, 2007. Although he was still very young, he was a regular at Osasuna. In three years he played 99 league games before moving to the French club Olympique Marseille in 2010 .
During the summer break of 2012, Chelsea FC signed Azpilicueta.
National team
On May 10, 2010, Azpilicueta was nominated by Vicente del Bosque for the extended squad of the Spanish senior team for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa . For the final squad he was not nominated. In 2011 he won the U-21 national team , the U-21 European Championship finals in Denmark with a 2: 0 against Switzerland . On February 6, 2013, he made his debut for the Spanish senior team in a 3-1 win over Uruguay . About six months later he took part with the Spanish team in the Confederations Cup in Brazil and reached the final, which they lost 3-0 to Brazil . He was substituted on in the final at the beginning of the second half.
At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was included in the Spanish squad. His only use was in the group game against Turkey, when he came into play with a 3-0 lead in the final minutes.
