Helene Wildbrunn , née Helene Wehrenfennig , (born April 8, 1882 in Vienna ; † April 10, 1972 ibid) was an Austrian opera singer ( alto / soprano ) and singing teacher .

Life

Wildbrunn studied in Vienna, made his debut at the Stadttheater in Dortmund in 1907 , worked at the Hofoper Stuttgart from 1914 to 1918, at the Berlin State Opera from 1919 to 1925 , at the Berlin City Opera from 1925 to 1932 and was also a member of the Vienna State Opera from 1919 to 1932 . In 1925 she could be seen in Don Juan at the Salzburg Festival as Donna Anna . In 1932, when she was already appointed chamber singer , she was also awarded an honorary member of the Vienna State Opera .

From 1932 she only appeared as a concert singer and from 1950 taught at the Vienna Music Academy as a professor. She was a celebrated Wagner singer, had a large vocal volume, dramatic creative power and a fine sense of style. As a guest she was in demand at all the major opera houses in the world.

Her grave is at the Vienna Cemetery , Neustift am Walde (Group J, Row 1, Number 1).
