Andreas Bødtker Christensen (born April 10, 1996 in Allerød ) is a Danish football player who is under contract with Chelsea FC and is active in the Danish national team .
Career
societies
Starts at Brøndby IF
Christensen started playing football in the youth department of Brøndby IF and was promoted to youth national team. His achievements made talent scouts from foreign clubs aware of him.
Moved to England early
In 2012 Christensen moved to the youth academy of Chelsea FC . In the 2012/13 season he played eleven times in the club's U-21; on May 19, 2013 in the 2-1 win on the last day of the 2012/13 season , he sat on the bench for the first time in a game of the professional team. In the following season he came to 21 missions for the U-21. At the end of the season they won the championship after beating their peers at Manchester United 2-1 in the final . Christensen also made seven appearances in the UEFA Youth League . Also in the 2014/15 season he mainly played in reserve. Christensen often trained with the professional team; on October 24, 2014 he played for the first time for the professionals in the 2-1 victory in the League Cup eighth-finals against Shrewsbury Town . On January 24, 2015 he was used for the first time in the FA Cup in the fourth round in the 2-4 loss to Bradford City ; he was used for the full season. On May 24, 2015 Christensen played for the first time in league and professional football when he came on for John Obi Mikel in the 78th minute of the 3-1 win on the last day of the 2014/15 season against AFC Sunderland . Borussia Monchengladbach
For the 2015/16 season Christensen moved to Borussia Mönchengladbach on loan to the German Bundesliga for two years . He made his Bundesliga debut on the first matchday in the away game against Borussia Dortmund , which was lost 4-0. On February 5, 2016 (20th matchday), he scored his first two Bundesliga goals in a 5-1 win at home against Werder Bremen with the 2-0 and 3-0 goals in the 31st and 50th minutes. During his two years at Gladbach, Christensen played in the Bundesliga and internationally, and over time has developed into a solid central defender. He played a total of 62 games in the Bundesliga and scored five goals. He played eleven times for Borussia in the Champions League (including qualification) and three times in the Europa League .
Return to Chelsea
Since FC Chelsea Borussia Mönchengladbach did not offer a purchase option despite demand, Christensen went back to the current English champions after the end of the 2016/17 season in the summer. When he returned to England, Christensen met his new coach Antonio Conte, among others . Under this he is now receiving regular assignments in his youth club in the first team for the first time. On January 9, 2018, Christensen extended his contract to June 30, 2022. Christensen made 57 league appearances in total.
National team
Christensen has played for all Danish national teams since the U-16s. He is currently the Danish U-21 international ; With this age group he took part in the 2015 European Championship , where he reached the semi-finals with the team.
On June 2, 2015, shortly after the nomination of U-21 national coach Jess Thorup in the squad for the U-21 European Championship, Christensen was invited to the squad of the Danish senior team for the first time by Morten Olsen when he was playing for the international matches against the selections of Montenegro and Serbia was nominated.
