Alexander Riedel

Alexander Riedel (* 1955 in Karlsruhe ) is a German judge. He is President of the Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court .

Life

Riedel studied law at the University of Heidelberg . During his legal clerkship, he worked at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law . After the second state examination in 1984 and a brief activity as a lawyer , he joined the judicial service of the state of Baden-Württemberg in 1985. He first worked as a criminal judge and then as a family judge at the Karlsruhe District Court . From 1992 to 1999 he was a personnel officer in the Ministry of Justice. At the end of 1999 he was appointed presiding judge at the Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court and on June 1, 2004 President of the Karlsruhe Local Court. In March 2008, Riedel was appointed President of the Karlsruhe Regional Court.

After the Ministry of Justice of Baden-Württemberg after the retirement of the President of the Higher Regional Court of Karlsruhe , Christine Hügel , initially wanted to appoint a different applicant as her successor at the end of April 2015, but the Presidential Council voted for Riedel, the judges' selection committee was called on 7 July Chose in 2015 for Riedel. Riedel was then appointed OLG President on August 5, 2015.
