history

The founding date of the district court Karlsruhe is located in 1857. During the construction of an independent judiciary which until then the executive associated were offices independent and the City District Court and the Country District Court Karlsruhe formed, which were combined in 1864, Grand Ducal County Court. At that time, the court still resided in Adlerstrasse . After the premises there became too cramped, however, the court was granted permission to move to Akademiestraße , which today still houses a branch of the local court with several departments. In 1911 the rooms assigned to the district court in Akademiestrasse were enlarged again.

After the Second World War , the district court resumed its activities in the summer of 1945. In the years 1958–1962 the move to the domicile of the district court on Schlossplatz took place .

In 1970 the district court was constituted as an independent presidential court . In nominal terms, this means that the court has since been run by a president instead of a director. In terms of content, the structure of the authorities has been enhanced by the fact that the members of the higher judicial service employed at the district court are no longer subject to the supervision of the district court president, but instead the district court of Karlsruhe is subordinate to the district courts of the higher regional court of Karlsruhe. Of course, this has no influence on the train of justice.
