Anthony Knockaert (born November 20, 1991 in Roubaix ) is a French football player who is on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion for Fulham FC in the 2019/20 season .
Club career
Knockaert began his professional career in the 2010/11 season with the French third division club EA Guingamp . He played 24 league games (two hits) in his debut season and rose with his team as third in the second division. The 2011/12 season ended the climber in seventh place in the table. Knockaert was the top scorer of his team with eleven league goals.
On August 8, 2012, the 20-year-old Knockaert moved to the English then second division Leicester City and signed a three-year contract. In the Football League Championship 2012/13 he needed little adjustment time and scored eight league goals. On the last day of the regular season, he scored the 3-2 winning goal in stoppage time in the game at Nottingham Forest , which secured his team a place in the play-offs. In the semi-finals of the play-offs, he missed a penalty in the second leg at Watford FC in the 97th minute; In return, Watford FC scored their winning goal to make it 3-1, which brought them into the final.
In the summer of 2015 Knockaert went to the Belgian first division club Standard Liège and received a four-year contract. During the 2015/16 winter break, he moved to the English second division club Brighton & Hove Albion . He was instrumental in the Premier League promotion and was elected to the second division team for the 2016/17 season. After two years in the Premier League, he was loaned to second division FC Fulham for the entire 2019/20 season with a final purchase option.
French national team
Knockaert, who had previously played in the U-20 team, made his debut in the French U-21 national team on September 10, 2012 in a 4-0 home win over Chile, scoring his first goal for the U-21s.
