Cyrus Sylvester Frederick Christie (born September 30, 1992 in Coventry ) is an Irish football player born in England who has been under contract with the English second division club Fulham since 2018 . In November 2014, he made his debut on the Irish national football team .

Career

Coventry City

Coming from his own youth academy, Cyrus Christie made his debut on August 10, 2010 for his hometown club Coventry City in a 2-0 away defeat at FC Morecambe in the League Cup 2010/11 . After he remained without another competitive game in the course of the season, he became a regular player in the 2011/12 season and played 37 league games. Coventry finished the season as penultimate and rose to the third division . The two subsequent seasons in the third division ended the club, struggling with financial difficulties and the temporary loss of its venue , only in the lower third of the table.

Derby County

On July 10, 2014, the second division Derby County announced the commitment of Christie and equipped the 21-year-old defender with a three-year contract.

Middlesbrough FC

After three years as a regular in Derby , Cristie moved to the Premier League relegated FC Middlesbrough on July 7, 2017 .

Irish national team

Born in England, Cyrus Christie was given the opportunity to play for Ireland through his Irish grandmother. After national coach Martin O'Neill called him to the squad for the first time in November 2014, Christie made his debut on November 18, 2014 for the Irish national football team in a 4-1 home win over the USA.

At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was included in Ireland's squad. He was one of two field players who remained without tournament participation.
