Maren Seidler

Maren Elizabeth Seidler (born June 11, 1951 in Brooklyn ) is a former American shot putter .

In 1967 she was fourth at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg and eleventh at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City .

At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, she was eliminated from qualification.

A fifth place at the 1975 Pan American Games in Cali was followed by a twelfth place at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. At the Athletics World Cup in 1977 in Düsseldorf, she was third.

In 1979 she won silver at the Pan American Games in San Juan and was fourth at the World Athletics Cup in Montreal . The US boycott prevented participation in the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow.

She was eleven times US champion (1967, 1968, 1972-1980) and seven times US indoor champion (1968, 1969, 1972, 1974, 1977, 1978, 1980). In total, she set ten US records, most recently on June 16, 1979 in Walnut with 19.09 m.
