The 1964 season of the Primera División was the 61st season (the 33rd of the professional era) of Uruguay's highest division in men's football , the Primera División .

The Primera División consisted of ten clubs in the championship season of 1964, whose teams met twice in a total of 90 championship games. There were 18 game days. Club Atlético Peñarol won the championship as first in the table in front of Rampla Juniors and Nacional Montevideo as second and third in the season's final table . The third-bottom Club Atlético Defensor rose from the Primera División to the Segunda División . The top scorer was Héctor Salvá with twelve goals .
