The 1951 season of the Primera División was the 48th season (the 20th of the professional era) of the Uruguayan top division in men's football , the Primera División .

The Primera División consisted in the championship season of 1951 from ten clubs, whose teams met twice in the total of 90 championship games. There were 18 game days. Club Atlético Peñarol won the championship as first in the table ahead of Nacional Montevideo and the Rampla Juniors as second and third in the season final table . As bottom of the table, the Montevideo Wanderers rose from the Primera División to the Segunda División . The top scorer was Juan Hohberg with 17 goals .
