The 1950 season of the Primera División was the 47th season (the 19th of the professional era) of Uruguay's highest division in men's football , the Primera División .
The Primera División consisted in the championship season of 1950 from ten clubs, whose teams met twice in a total of 90 championship games. There were 18 game days. The championship won Nacional Montevideo as first in the table in front of Club Atlético Peñarol and the Rampla Juniors as second and third in the season final table . As bottom of the table, Bella Vista rose from the Primera División to the Segunda División after the club had played a relegation against the Montevideo Wanderers as tied ninth in the table. Bella Vista prevailed 2-1 in the first game. The Wanderers won the second encounter 1-0. The third meeting ended in a 2-2 draw. Bella Vista was then not ready to play another playoff game, so the relegation decision was finally made by tossing a coin . Bella Vista lost and stepped up the aisle in the second division. The top scorer was Juan Orlandi with 14 goals .
