The 1993 season of the Primera División was the 90th season (the 62nd of the professional era) of the Uruguayan top division in men's football , the Primera División .
The Primera División consisted of 13 clubs in the championship season of 1993, whose teams met twice in a total of 156 championship games played from the beginning of April to December of that year. There were 328 goals. Club Atlético Peñarol won the championship as first in the table in front of Defensor Sporting and Danubio FC as second and third in the season's final table . Huracán Buceo and Racing Club de Montevideo and had to relegate to the Segunda División . Racing played in this context two relegation games against the second division club Central Español . The team of the latter club prevailed with a 3-0 win in the second game after the first game had ended 0-0. Nacional Montevideo and Defensor Sporting qualified for the 1994 Copa Libertadores .
The top scorer was Wilmar Cabrera from relegated Huracán Buceo with 12 goals .
