The 1994 Copa Libertadores was the 35th edition of the most important South American football competition for club teams. 21 teams took part, including the national champions of the CONMEBOL countries and the runners-up. Defending champion São Paulo FC completed the field of participants . The tournament began on February 13 and ended on August 31, 1994 with the final second leg. The Argentine representative CA Vélez Sársfield won the final against São Paulo FC and thus the Copa Libertadores for the first time .
