Copa Campeones de America 1964

The Copa Campeones de América 1964 was the 5th edition of the most important South American football competition for club teams. 11 teams took part, including 8 national champions from the previous year and defending champions FC Santos from Brazil as well as the winner of the cup competition, the Taça Brasil , as no national championship has yet been held there. From Bolivia, the winner of the cup competition took part for the same reason. Venezuela had a representative at the start for the first time. The tournament began on April 12 and ended on August 12, 1964 with the final second leg. The Argentine representative CA Independiente won the final against Nacional Montevideo and was the first winner of the Copa Libertadores.
