Jorge Oyarbide , full name Jorge Luis Oyarbide Timote (* 1944 in Paysandú , † November 14, 2013 in Solymar ), was a Uruguayan football player .
Career
society
As a child, Jorge "Chueca" Oyarbide started playing football at Atlético Bella Vista. At the age of 14 he played in the Tercera División . At that time he was also in the department selection Paysandús in a game against Club Atlético Cerro . The offensive player Jorge Oyarbide joined Nacional Montevideo in 1961 . He was first used in the Cuarta División and the Tercera División and finally made his debut at the age of 16 in the first team. Opponent in his first outing, in which he was also in the starting line-up, was the Brazilian club Santos FC . At Nacional he was then involved in winning the two national championships in 1963 and 1966 in the Primera División . In 1964 and 1967 he was with the Bolsos in the final of the competition for the Copa Libertadores . In total, he scored 67 goals during his time with the Montevideans. In 1967 he moved to Brazil to Grêmio Porto Alegre . He then went to Colombia, where he was active for two seasons in Barranquilla and also took part in the Copa Libertadores with his club. He returned to Atlético Bella Vista. In Paysandú he was reappointed to the department selection at that time. Ricardo De León then brought him back to Montevideo for Defensor Sporting . There he was seriously injured in 1974, but returned and won the national championship title again in 1976. After winning the title, he and his coach moved to Veracruz in Mexico for a year . Then he ended his career.
National team
Oyarbide played from his debut on December 23, 1961 to his last appearance on February 2, 1967, seven games for the Uruguayan national soccer team , in which he scored four goals. In 1967 he was with the Celeste South American champion and was behind Luis Artime with four goals the second most successful goalscorer of the tournament. According to his own statement, he missed the World Cup the year before due to an injury.

Oyarbide last lived in Solymar. His son Luis Oyarbide is also a professional soccer player and has played for Nacional Montevideo and El Tanque Sisley , among others . A grandson plays in the youth of Central Español .
