Copa Libertadores 2004

The Copa Libertadores 2004 , also Copa Toyota Libertadores due to the sponsorship of the car manufacturer Toyota , was the 45th edition of the most important South American football competition for club teams. 36 teams took part, the number of participants being determined according to the rank of the country in the CONMEBOL ranking list. Defending champion Boca Juniors completed the field . The tournament began on February 3 and ended on July 1, 2004 with the final second leg. The Colombian representative Once Caldas won the final against the Boca Juniors and thus the Copa Libertadores for the first time .
