Copa Libertadores 1979

The 1979 Copa Libertadores was the 20th edition of the most important South American football competition for club teams. 21 teams took part. The national champions of the CONMEBOL countries and the runners-up took part. Defending champion CA Boca Juniors completed the field of participants. The tournament began on February 24th and ended on July 27th, 1979 with the final second leg. Paraguayan representative Club Olimpia won the final against Boca Juniors and won the Copa Libertadores for the first time .
