Copa Campeones de America 1961
The Copa Campeones de América 1961 was the 2nd edition of the most important South American football competition for club teams. 9 teams took part, including 8 national champions from the previous year and the winner of the cup competition from Brazil, the Taça Brasil , as no national championship has yet been held there. Only Venezuela did not have a representative at the start. The tournament began on April 2 and ended on June 11, 1961 with the final second leg.
The defending champion Peñarol Montevideo was able to prevail in the final against SE Palmeiras from Brazil and won the title again.
