Copa Libertadores 1973

The 1973 Copa Libertadores was the 14th edition of the most important South American football competition for club teams. 19 teams took part. The national champions of the CONMEBOL countries and the second took part, or the winner and finalist of the cup competition in Bolivia, as no national championship has yet been held there. Venezuela did not participate. The field of participants was completed by defending champion CA Independiente. The tournament began on February 2 and ended on June 6, 1973 with the final playoff. The Argentine representative CA Independiente won the final against CSD Colo-Colo and was able to defend his title from the previous year and win the Copa Libertadores for the fourth time.
