Copa Libertadores 2000

The Copa Libertadores 2000 , also Copa Toyota Libertadores due to the sponsorship of the car manufacturer Toyota , was the 41st edition of the most important South American football competition for club teams. 32 teams took part, the number of participants being determined according to the country's rank in the CONMEBOL ranking, as well as two representatives from Mexico and Venezuela, who determined two remaining places in the qualification. Defending champion Palmeiras São Paulo completed the field of participants . The tournament began on February 15 and ended on June 21, 2000 with the final second leg. The Argentine representative Boca Juniors won the final against Palmeiras São Paulo and thus for the third time the Copa Libertadores .
