Copa Libertadores 1983

The Copa Libertadores 1983 was the 24th edition of the most important South American football competition for club teams. 21 teams took part. The national champions of the CONMEBOL countries and the runners-up took part. Defending champion Club Atlético Peñarol completed the field . The tournament began on March 4 and ended on July 28, 1983 with the final playoff. Brazilian representative Gremio Porto Alegre won the final against CA Peñarol and won the Copa Libertadores for the first time .
