Milton Queiroz da Paixão , called Tita (born April 1, 1958 in Rio de Janeiro ), is a former Brazilian soccer player and current coach .

Career

Tita started his career in 1977 with Flamengo Rio de Janeiro . With the club, the striker became Brazilian champions in 1980, 1982 and 1983 , won the Copa Libertadores in 1981 and 1983 and the World Cup in 1981 . From 1983 he played alongside Flamengo with the Brazilian first division clubs Gremio Porto Alegre , Internacional Porto Alegre and CR Vasco da Gama . He played as a striker.

In 1987 he was brought to Europe by Bayer 04 Leverkusen . In the 1987/88 season Tita scored ten goals in 21 games in the German Bundesliga . With the Leverkusen team he also won the UEFA Cup in 1988 . He then moved to Italy to Pescara Calcio , where he scored nine goals in the 1988/89 Serie A season . Nevertheless, Pescara relegated to Serie B and Tita returned to Brazil in 1989, where he won the championship that season with the CR Vasco da Gama. He then moved to Mexico to Club León . In 1992 he won the Mexican championship with the club. Tita played in Mexico for a few more years before moving to Guatemala for the 1997/98 season. After winning the Guatemalan championship with Communicaciones , he ended his career in 1998.

Tita completed 31 games for the Brazilian national soccer team , was in the squad for the Mundialito in 1980, the Copa América in 1989 and he took part in the 1990 World Cup. With Brazil he won the Copa America in 1989 .

After his active career, he followed a coaching career that led him to the Japanese J-League , among other places . During the 2006 World Cup, he assisted Japan's national coach Zico . Since November he has been coaching the Mexican club León , where he had already played actively in the 1990s.
