Copa Libertadores 2003

The Copa Libertadores 2003 , also Copa Toyota Libertadores due to the sponsorship of the car manufacturer Toyota , was the 44th edition of the most important South American football competition for club teams. 32 teams took part, the number of participants being determined according to the country's rank in the CONMEBOL ranking, as well as two representatives from Mexico and Venezuela, who determined two remaining places in the qualification. The field of participants was completed by defending champions Club Olimpia . The tournament began on February 4 and ended on July 2, 2003 with the final second leg. The Argentine representative Boca Juniors won the final against FC Santos and thus the Copa Libertadores for the fifth time .
