Rolando Carlos Schiavi (born January 18, 1973 in Lincoln ) is an Argentine soccer player who was under contract for Boca Juniors from 2011 to 2012 .

Club career

Schiavi started his career in a lower league with Argentino de Rosario , before moving to Argentinos Juniors in 1995. Schiavi played for Argentinos for six years, after which he moved to the record champions, the Boca Juniors . He completed 186 games for Boca from 2001 to 2005 and scored 22 goals. In total, he came to 121 league appearances and thirteen hits. Schiavi won seven titles with Boca, including the Argentine championship twice and the 2003 Copa Libertadores .

In 2006, Boca sold the defender to the Spanish club Hércules Alicante for 550,000 euros. The guest appearance was short-lived, however, as Schiavi soon returned to South America and in 2007 moved to Gremio Porto Alegre in Brazil .

In the 2007 summer transfer window, Schiavi went back to Argentina and joined Newell's Old Boys . On November 2, 2008, he converted the decisive penalty in the 1-0 win against Rosario Central in the Rosario derby .

On June 22, 2009 Newells' Old Boys agreed to give Schiavi on loan to Estudiantes de La Plata for the Copa Libertadores games . Estudiantes paid Newell's $ 100,000 including insurance and salary for the deal. Schiavi played in both semi-finals and in the final. He managed to win the title with Estudiantes in the final.

International career

In September 2009 Schiavi was called up for the first time for the Argentina national team, as part of the qualifying game for the 2010 World Cup against Brazil . He made his debut as a substitute for Sebastián Domínguez in the 80th minute in the 0-1 defeat by Paraguay .
