Clemente Juan Rodríguez (born July 31, 1981 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine football player who currently works for São Paulo FC .
Club career
Rodríguez came to Boca Juniors from CA Los Andes in 2000 and won numerous titles with the club. In 2000 and 2003 he won the Apertura , in 2001 and 2003 the Copa Libertadores . In 2001 and 2003 he was also in the final of the World Cup with the Boca Juniors . While the game against FC Bayern Munich was lost 1-0 after extra time in 2001 , they won against AC Milan on penalties in 2003 .
In January 2005, the defender moved to the Russian league for Spartak Moscow for 7.5 million US dollars . After two years, during which he played three games in the UEFA Champions League , he was awarded to Boca Juniors for six months in early 2007. There he managed to win the Copa Libertadores for the third time with the club. For the 2007/08 season he was loaned to Espanyol Barcelona for two million euros . In August 2009, the defender signed for Estudiantes de La Plata and returned to his homeland. In August 2010, Rodríguez signed another contract with Boca Juniors.
National team
Rodríguez made his debut for the Argentina national team in January 2003 in a friendly against Honduras. At the Copa America 2004 he was in his country's squad and came to two partial appearances in the course of the tournament. To date, he has played nine games in the Albiceleste jersey .
With the Argentine Olympic selection, he became an Olympic champion in 2004 as a supplementary player. Rodríguez was substituted on four times during the tournament.
