Sebastián Alejandro Battaglia (born November 8, 1980 in Santa Fe ) is a former Argentine soccer player who was mainly used in defensive midfield .
With the exception of 2004, when he played for Villarreal , he was under contract with Boca Juniors throughout his professional career .
With 16 titles that Battaglia has won with Boca, he is, together with the equally successful Guillermo Barros Schelotto , the most successful player in the history of the Xeneizes .
These titles include six Argentine championships , four successes in the Copa Libertadores ( 2000 , 2001 , 2003 and 2007 ), the South American counterpart to the European Champions League , and two successes in the World Cup (2000 and 2003).
