Copa Libertadores 1976

The Copa Libertadores 1976 was the 17th edition of the most important South American football competition for club teams. 21 teams took part. The national champions of the CONMEBOL countries and the second took part, or the winner and finalist of the cup competition in Bolivia, as no national championship has yet been held there. The field of participants was completed by defending champion CA Independiente. The tournament began on February 25th and ended on July 30th, 1976 with the final playoff. Brazilian representative Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte won the final against CA River Plate and won the Copa Libertadores for the first time.
